Hi there

Been using my Dewalt 625EK recently and I'm getting really fed up with the poor dust extraction. So much so I'm thinking about ditching it and getting another. When the guide bush is being used there are too many big holes in it for the suction to be concentrated around the cutter.

What is the dust extraction like on the OF1400. Can anyone who has used the 625 aswell as the Festool offer a comparision?

Can anyone comment on how good the extraction is when routing all the way though wood - like when you're joining kitchen worktops.

I use the CTL 22 for extraction.

Cheers, Jack

I will be firing mine up for the first time on friday, I'll let you know, can't imagine it'll be an issue though, I have the CTM 22 extractor, so should be a fair appraisal.

Cheers

festool design there stuff with dust collection being a main point so you should be fine,

if you make a pass then run it back it will pick up the bits that was missed before

I've got both, IMO the 625 is not a patch on the OF1400. The dust is extraction is better, and so is everything else. It feels more powerful than it is too, although I think the limits of the router bit are mostly reached before the limits of power in a hand held machine.

The DX on the OF is VG.

It doesn't get i the way of the cutter, can be attached and removed without removing the cutter first and encloses the cutter very well, so very little dust escapes when you are cutting grooves.

When edge routing DX is not quite so good, because, of course, the areas is less enclosed, but there is a cowl for that too.

It's no contest.

I havent got the OF1400 I have the OF1010. The other week I had to use my DW626 (OF1010 wasnt here) to cut some biscuit slots in MDF using my Festool vac and the router fence that came with the 626 which has its own dust extract point. Anyway the dust was everywhere and it was a right pain.

This week Festool sent me a new OF1010 as my other one was defective so I used it yesterday to cut some slots exactly how I did with the 626 but there was hardly any dust at all.

So if the 1400 is anything like the 1010 the dust collection will be great.
