I used to have one just like this. One of the main reasons I sold it on was because of the cloth collection bag - they fill up too quickly and there's no quick and easy solution for emptying them... Even a zip would have been handy. :roll:

I never found out if you can buy bigger bags. One thing I did try was to replace it with a short length of 5" hose which then ran in to an old dust bin. This actually worked quite well. Although, if you try something similar, I suggest you use a old steel or even wooden (MDF? ply?) bin as the plastic one I had used to dance around when it was empty! :D You definitely want something with some weight to it.
 
How about building one of those cyclone type collectors using a dustbin or barrel to collect most of the stuff before it reaches the unit?

Most? A good cyclone will remove 99.9% of the stuff before it gets there.
 
Was thinking if my wife could make me a bigger one do you think that would work
