I have a 750w axminster chip extractor which is just about man enough to take everything from the Scheppach planer thicknesser.

I was thinking of putting a cylcone in to get rid of the fine dust but I think I will lose a bit of suction power doing this and the extractor is only just up to the job.

Would a fine filter be a good option? I could also consider upgrading the extractor and then putting in a cyclone which may be a bit dearer but I'd gain more suck.

Is Axminster the only place that sells fine filters for extractors? Can't see any cheaper ones

Adding fine filters may reduce the airflow considerably, resulting in your extractor being unable to move the chippings.

I have the AWEDE2 Extractor and used it with just the bag as a filter. Big mistake, it collected the big stuff but the fine, dangerous, dust was just blown out into my workshop. The allergic reaction to the hard wood dust nearly killed me. Has taken years to get over it and get the place clean. I have just put a fine filter on the extractor and what a difference. Still works well on my saw and planer thicknesser. Best £100 I ever spent, couldn't find one cheaper anywhere but Axminster Tools.
