Another tedious dust extraction question, sorry about that.

I'm trying to connect a Festool 36mm O/D hose into a router based jig that basically uses the imperial 2 1/2" O/D system. Axminster have a 63mm dust system which I assume is the 2 1/2" system under a different name? But in any event they don't seem to have an adapter that would allow the Festool 36mm hose to plug into it. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Should work. 63mm is a gnat's nipple under 2 1/2" so at worst you may need a wrap of electrical tape around the adapter to take up any slack when fitting into the jig.

Trend do an adapter for their router table and with a bit of electrical tape to create a really tight fit it works well with a Festool 36mm hose.

I use the a standard size hose system but have to connect various tools into it so I ended up making my own adapter rings out of MDF. Put a slight tapper on and you should be good.

I can't understand why there is no industry standard for these things. Even within specific manufacturers ranges there are incompatibilities.

Ah I know what you mean, it's very frustrating. I know there needs to be difference sizes but honestly there are so many. I think I've got about 6 different adapter for about 8 machines!
