I've heard this company recommended regularly, and also by a couple of pro'. So could well be worth a call.

I have bought blades from Hamilton Edge once - I wasn't greatly impressed but it was a few years ago.

I would observe that most of the blades one sees are too thick for small bandsaws. Thicker metal translates to extra stress when running over smallish diameter wheels, potentially leading to breakage and distortion.

For re-sawing I have for the last several years bought the "Wood Slicer" blades from Highland Hardware in Atalanta. These are thinner than Dure Edge or Hamilton Edge blades of the same width. They cut superbly in re-sawing mode and when they get past their best for this work, I use them for general sawing jobs

Email from Dure Edge

Yes, there is a chance that we will sell bandsaw blades again, but unfortunately, we are not able to say when if so. I know this is not very helpful, but I can only apologise.

If and when we resume in bandsaw blades, it will be with the same product, but possibly with a more limited range and most certainly at higher prices: it would need to be to make it worthwhile.

Thank you for your comments and interest, and we will retain your email to keep you posted when we have news.

Regards,

Andrew.

The present blade in my bandsaw came from screwfix (88inch) for record rsbs12 and has not been changed for over 5 months, it is cutting perfectly and I dread the day that it wears out. Cost around £6 each if buying 5 pieces.

This was the email I received: -

Hi Neil,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Yes, we have stopped selling blades for the time
being, i.e., indefinitely.

As unhelpful as this might be, the most I can say
right now is that we are not currently taking orders
for bandsaw blades, and we may either (i) close the
operation for good, (ii) sell on the operation, or
(iii) resume the operation in the future (we're
talking weeks or months) in a modified way. If we do
resume, it will be with the same high-quality product.

I'm sorry I can't be more forthcoming yet. When our
plans for the operation are more certain, I can visit
your forum or update you personally via email.

Regards,

Andrew Fallows.

Like Chris, I use the WoodSlicers for nearly everything. From resawing to general use.

You will note HH's claim of running quieter. They certainly run much quieter than any other BS blades I have ever used.

Out of interest, What are Dure_Edge doing?

If they are not selling blades they must have other services I would have thought. Perhaps I am too suspicious.

Sounds to me like the carefully phrased language of administrators and/ or receivers is behind this.

Cheers
