Hi,

As a newbie to the site I've been trawling around old threads for items of interest, and I keep finding recommendations for Dure Edge bandsaw blades. I have also seen that they have closed down, and also that they have started up again!

A Google search for them brings me back to the forum!

So...

Are Dure Edge still in business?

Where can I find them?

Are their blades as good as everyone says?

Des

Hi Des

Dure Edge NEVER went out of business.

They only stopped selling bandsaw blades for a short period, whilst they conducted a review into their costs, and are back in the market with their excellent quality blades, albeit a slightly reduced range.

You can contact them on 08702 252337

Cheers
Neil

It's also worth mentioning that DW has received free blades for promoting Dragon on this site.

For the sake of some balance regarding Dragon blades I haven't received any "free" blades, I ordered six they were posted to me on trust, payment on receipt. So far of the two I have used they have been most satisfactory. Regarding the blade weld I have not had cause to inspect it because there is no noise or "bump" on it's circuit. They are certainly superior to Axminsters previous offerings and on a par with Hamilton edge tools. I have not tried Dure edge. Perhaps there is a quality control issue, from time to time, but I speak as I find, Dure edge were not selling at the point I required furthe blades.

I did receive some free saw blades from Dragon saws (M42 bimetal, and heavy duty steel blades) to do a review which was posted on this site.

I could hardly do a review without some pieces to try. This was at the time when Dure Edge were not able to supply.

I have not had any bad weld blades from Dragon Saws, but I did have a complaint with Dure Edge and they refused to replace a blade I complained about.

I have used Dragon and Dure Edge bandsaw blades and both were superb and much better than the standard blades from the saw's seller.

HOWEVER, the Dragon blades have not remained sharp for as long as the Dure Edge by quite a while, but they are cheaper.

I currently am using Dragon and am quite happy and do not feel any particular inclination to buy from Dure Edge in preference to Dragon

Sorry Neil,

I didn't mean to cast aspertions; it's just the impression I'd got from reading old threads from last year.

I'll give them a call tomorrow

Cheers
