Hi,
Managed to get a load of Western Red Cedar for a great price in Milverton Somerset.
Had it cut to 8 ins x 1/2 ins in 5 ft lengths , but it is wet, anyone know how long it should be dried for before scrollsawing
Thanks

By wet do you mean green as felled or wet due to rain exposure?

Normal guidance is 12 months per 1" thickness in sticks with free air movement in a sheltered position.

How and where you manage to dry it, and whether it stays flat and straight are all variations on a theme that only time will tell though.

I would thing the majority of moisture is weather based as my 1/2 inch planks were cut from 3 inch planks.I have stored them in my garage with " sticks " to create air flow and also put a couple of 5ft lengths in my kitchen above a radiator
I would like to try sawing in January if possible my Granddaughter wants a lighthouse scene
Thanks

I am not sure if you would need to seal any fresh cuts with that thickness .I suppose it would be no harm to seal the ends ??

Best of luck .
