I'm at the planning stage of building a small thicknessing sander for strip wood for model ship building. I'm thinking of utilizing the 2 or 3" drum from my Triton bobbin, & using the motor from a tile cutter. The motor is under 2K rpm, now I ask is this fast enough for direct drive or should I use pulleys & drive belts to achieve a 1:2 increase? All suggestions appreciated, thanks guys in advance.
