It really frustrates me sometimes with what happens in the real world.

Craftsmanship and art skills at times seem to be totally ignored in favor of marketing acumen.
(I'm not saying the turnings in this particular link are not worthy by the way)

I see painting daubs reminiscent of a 4 year olds work selling for mega money when for a few tens/low hundreds of pounds I can buy a spectacular and extremely fine detailed watercolor that has taken weeks of work and years of skill developement.
 
If they are in America I can believe it there are woodturning collectors over there and they do pay for good pieces. I have sold a couple to of bits to American and got £200 plus for them just wish it would happen more often
 
Mike Hancock was talking abou this on another thread recently. He pointed out that in America, turning is seen as an art form. I look through the galleries for ideas and inspiration as do many of us and find that many of the pieces are in one museum or another, recently looked at a site where most of the pieces were in the White House. Anyone here got some at Buck House? :lol:
