it would depend on what you want to do with it. In general, probably not, but for small stuff like pens it is probably fine.

If you wish to do large bowls you'll need at least a horsepower. I use a CL4 regularly (that's 1hp), and I can stop that quite easily.

What I would really like is a Jet JWL 1442 is the cl sturdy on the leg stand or have you bolted it down?

If it looks like the one in the photo then yes its not that bad of a lathe. or at least I don't think so LOL

I only tend to use mine out of Necessity at the moment but even I have managed 13 inch bowls and some 18 inch Platters with mine with no dramas whatsoever. The head swivels as well
