I have the above compressor and when I switched it on today and the tank reached the pressure I had set it too, the motor switched off as it normally would, but then the air was released through the on and off button, or the "pressure switch" as they call it. You can see the switch I mean on page 6 on the link below,

http://www.drapertools-online.com/produ ... 707ins.pdf

I took the cover off the switch (see page 7 of the link) but for the life of me I cannot see where the air is coming from, and anyway it is mostly filled with wires.

In the trouble shooting on page 11, it states that if the pressure switch valve leaks when the compressor is in idle, that the seal in the "Non return valve" could be defective, but the manual does not have a spare parts page and so I have no idea where this valve is. Could the Non return valve be inside the pressure switch casing?
If so, do you need any special tools to work on these compressors, or at least to change the seal? Or would you take it to a specialist?

Although I have owned the compressor about 2 years because of medical problems I have not been able to use it more then a couple of times. Would you expect the seal to have gone already?

Any other ideas of what it could be?

TIA

Cheers

Hi Mike,

Bit of a bummer that its playing up after light use. :(

On page 10 it does say check the non return valve every 2 years, so they must get a bit worn.

There is a phone number for Draper on page 2, I would give them a ring.
I have found them very helpful.
I have a bench mortiser from them, one of the augers was bent on delivery, I rang them. They sent out a postage paid return pack and in a week sent me a better quality chisel & auger.

Hi Dave,

Page 10, non return valve, check every 2 years      That just goes to show you that I do not/did not read the manual
To be honest I cannot find mine, but I still should have read the one on the link   Don't you just hate days like this

It certainly does look like it could be worn, what are they like to change?

Thanks for finding the info for me Dave, it is very much appreciated it.
I will give them a ring tomorrow.

Cheers

Mike
