Thought I would join the completed projects forum. A friend asked me if I could build him a dovecote to supply 12 pairs if doves with a home. It was mounted on a 4metre post to keep the cats away. As you can see from the image (if I have done it right) that I had to wait for fine weather to finish it as it was to big for my workshop oops I mean garage.

Mod edit: Picture showing okay now :)

Excellent, have you got any pictures of it "in location"?

Can you tell us a little more about the construction details?

Adam

Many thanks for the praise Alf. All told about 60 hours, there is nearly four sheets of 12mm plywood inside for the floors an compartments to keep them snug. Post slides up the middle to stop wind blowing it over. Tongue and groove sides with shiplap roof topped off with lead. SHMBO even helped with the painting microporous stuff goes on like glue first coat, athritis in wrists so sat with cool beer watching

Wow Les!

I hope my wife doesn't see this ima...oops. Too late. She thinks it's great too.

Those doves are living better than some of the homes we've had!

And I like the idea of sitting back with a drink while someone else does the painting. Hmm...

Sorry, I can't get the image from the URL you posted, the other photo is on imagebox.co.uk, this one is on wanadoo. Can you upload it to the internet like the other one?

Going to the url:

then clicking on the pic, waiting for that to open and then right clicking for properties gives the address:

(Any help, Les? :D )

Cheers, Alf

=D> A stunning Dovecote complementing a stunning location, I wish I had some doves as I feel the local gulls do not deserve such an abode.

Or just use imageshack.com as your host, it is much easier (and still free). It automatically gives you the code to paste directly into the post as is, which is quicker and easier even if you know the manual way by heart.

Les,
It's brilliant. A real inspiration to me too. I have a bird feeder in the garden at the moment which I knocked up but I keep having to tell people it's a prototype - well it is really, it took quite a while to solve the squirrel problem. In any case having seen your magnificent creation, I shall forwith put in for a tuit.
