I was asked to make this a few weeks ago. I got round to it last week and fitted it today.

I made and painted it in my workshop, much easier than on site, and no weather worries.

Set out on a sheet of hardboard, the front frame is M+T construction and a half laps to the curved braces-

Two pairs of rafters are glued and screwed together-

The ply covering is clamped to the rafters and screwed together-

My apprentice 'Flash' chopping out the pockets for the end of the gallows brackets-

The brackets are tightly wedged into the pockets and bolted to wall, roof lifted on and screwed down-

Just needs 12 tiles and some flashing.

Thanks for looking

Looks good!

I went around a friend's house, who'd got another carpenter friend in rather than me, to do a canopy for them. When I looked at it, i didn't think much of it at all. But this looks superb!

Lovely bit of work there! Hope u can put the finished pics up when completed.
I'm sure customer is well pleased with it, and nearly all done in the comfort of the workshop! :)

Very nice Mattty But I think it needs either plain tiles (10 x 6 1/2) or small slates to finish it off more in keeping with the size of the roof

How much did you charge for that.

Hi John, Your quite right. These small roof's look much better with small pantile's or small slates. This was an 'order' as opposed to a commision though. It was to match the existing bay window and main roof. Even the flashing was specified as torch on rather than proper lead.

We built It, painted, Installed & Roofed for £700 (quoted).

Time wise it worked out 6hrs Build, 6hrs Paint, 6hrs site.

Very nice! I'm sure the health and safety officer would have loved that access platform, no toe board or handrails! Tut, tut!! :)

Hi mattty Iwould say £700 was cheap considering the labour envolved and the cost of materials .

It looks better than I expected in its finished state good job mate

I don't know - seems about right to me for 3 days work.

Very nice Mattty. I can see that you are already catching on to the attractions of spending your time in a nice warm workshop rather than up a ladder in all weathers.

Particularly if you can send your apprentice out to do the fitting!
