For the past few weeks I have been making a pair of identical Doll's Houses (from a book kindly donated to me by PaulJ) for my two younger Granddaughters.

The woodworking bit was fairly straight forward - cutting MDF and ply, but the finishing and detailing took forever!

1/16th scale - about 25" long.

Nicely done Rod...I can see why the Zona's would have been useful. Just noticed...there are some spindles missing from the staircase, time to get the lathe out! :p  - Rob

You forgot to insulate the loft, Rod. :)

Good one,you can buy dolls house funiture on ebay...very small items and nicely made.

Thanks for the nice comments.

Rob I could have used matchsticks :D - but I built it according to the plans.
I cannot see the handrail surviving a 6 year old very long anyway?

They arrive back from Canada next week and will be living with us for a few weeks until their place is habitable again - so exciting times ahead?

A friend passed on a few Doll's House Catalogues - the price of some of the stuff is eye watering - there seems to be quite a big business in it and aimed mainly at adults?
Many years ago my father made one for my daughters but it was so complicated and delicate they never got on with it. These ones are fairly simple and I hope reasonably robust - time will tell - I have plenty of glue! :D

I agree Rod, there are doll's houses made for youngsters to play with, and dolls houses made for the enjoyment of adults...doesn't HM have one? Two entirely different concepts - Rob

Rod, Bloody fantastic !!!!

You've really put in some great detail there =D> Your two Granddaughters are very lucky indeed. Sure they'll spend hours and hours playing with them !

I bet painting all those different coloured rooms was fun

Yep, agree with all the others here, great work Rod!

I made one for my daughter (she is now 12) but she never really got into it, however, she will not let me get rid of it so it must be of some value to her!!

Your house is far better than the one I made, that's for sure. the stair case is very detailed for example.

I guess Rob is mentioning me as "HM", and if so, Rob you have a very good memory!!!

cheers
HM
