Due to failing health I have been forced to evacuate my mini man-cave.
Even with a heater in there it is far too damp for me to stay in there for any length of time.
Because of the damp and the cold I am finding it difficult to motivate myself to even go in there let alone spend a few hours trying to do something worthwhile with the bits of wood I have.

I am very new to working with wood and have come to enjoy it. I live with the Mrs in a small council bungalow and we have both decided that the mini man-cave is becoming detrimental to my health. So this coming Saturday we have decided to convert part of the bedroom into a workshop of sorts. I will be trying to put a 8 foot kitchen worktop on the wall with 3 legs and move my tools and everything indoors.

I know a lot of you will be cringing at this solution but I think it will be better than to give up all together and let my illness win. So come Saturday the mini man-cave is no more. Worst thing about a hobby is it gets hard to give it up.

=D>

I dont cringe at all. circumstances change. You do what you have to do to continue enjoying what you like. I applaud you and your wife for being sensible about it.

Though i do think your post title is a little misleading ... I suggest it should be "Doing what i enjoy, no matter what!"

Good on you, if you enjoy it and it works for you then why not, better then none stop tv :D

Your wife especially!!
The bedroom itself? You clearly have yourself a good one there, mate!!

In fairness I don't think any of us realise just how good until something like this comes along.

I wouldn't change her for all the wood in the world.

Garno,
You're following in a great man's footsteps!
Lord Nuffield of Morris Motor car fame built a workshop in his bedroom at Nuffield Place in Oxfordshire.

I've been trying to think of a joke based on "moving wood into the bedroom" ... but for the life of me i can't without it being rude.... ;-)

As another member with an 'indoors' workshop, in my case the utility room, I can safely say I love it and apart from being rather short of space it is by far the best workshop I have ever had - central heating, sink, kitchen (extra floorspace when needed, but don't tell the wife) feet away, downstairs loo close at hand, what's not to like?

Starting to feel better about it already. :D

My shed is a concrete sectional garage which is hell in winter .... until I got a wood burning stove.
I didn't realise how easy it was to install one especially on a concrete floor.
Just in case you could make it work for you to save a great upheaval.
