I drive a Fiat Doblo, somebody's got to haven't they?
No ball of fire, little street cred, but brilliant for carrying the grandson as he can see out of the windows, the drivers of smaller vehicles move over when they see you coming and it's great for carrying bags of compost.
So what's the downside?
Tyre wear! 10000 miles from new and the front tyres are shot. According to the Fiat agents that's pretty much par for the course!

Roy.

I have to replace the front tyres on my Fiat Brava after around 10000 miles as well. I always thought that was about average?

I'm getting close to 40K on the fronts on my Focus, even my turbo Fiat Coupe used to get at least 20K on some soft fronts

What do they make tyres out of over there? Chocolate Cake?

We normally get closer to 60,000 miles on a set of tires.

Have you ever had the front end aligned? Can that be done on a Doblo?

Apparently that is the normal sort of mileage from that model Dave. The wheel alignment was checked when I first noticed the high wear rate.
Must be something about the design.

Roy.

Ah but Dave your roads are all straigh and flat. Ours are bendy and bumpy :D

next time your over, hire a car and go for a drive. You'll see ;)

Just make sure that when you do drive over here you keep over the minimum speed limit for the road, there are plenty of signs around telling you what the minimum speed for that road is. And of course don't exceed the speed limit either, that's 120mph on a motorway.
If one of our valiant police officers flags you down to tell you how well you're driving, make sure you greet him with the customary British phrase "Crikey! It's the Filth!" - they love that...

Thanks for the advice fellas.

When I do get over there I'm expecting to be winded and dined by all of you whom I've helped with SketchUp. I'll let you all drive me around, too. ;) :D

You lucky bugger, I'm lucky if we get 4000/5000 out of a set on mine

Well I have to confess, when I went to Cardigan in july and visited Roy, I found the highways to be of excellent standard and remarked to my wife that I wished our local authority would spend time and money doing the same in our county.

Rich.

some of the roads around here are shocking. Even when they 'improve' the roads, they still aren't great.

Each morning I go to work on the A180 which is supposed to have been improved and the noise is deafening as the surface is concrete! No wonder my tyres don't last long around 10,000 if I am lucky! I can hardly hear the radio either and have to turn it up.

I got 90,000 on the last set of tires on my 1/2 ton truck...but I don`t do burn outs like you guys....but I will say I got a lot of complaints about how they looked?? Hey they still held air and you could see where there used to be thread...I was getting auntsy about the rain, slideing around a lot.
So new tires all around and now I throw rooster tails in the rain...
18 mpg with a 355 hp engine and a lot of places I drive are not that flat. The wide stance of my truck helps tho

Have you tried Mullykin Tyres. Very good I've heard, particularly if your driving in Scotland.

It depends a lot on the brand of tyre you buy. I had 45k out of a set of michelin tyres when these needed replacing I put a pair of what must have been fairly soft compound Bridge stones on which were fantastic in the wet but lasted barely 8k. Same car, same roads same driver.

Oh well, I got it at least, Soulfly.

Terrible, by the way.
