Can any one help I'm looking to buy MDF sheets that are v groved to emulated match boarding need 8x4 sheets say 12 mm thick or less any help would be grateful

Usually they're thinner than that 6mm/9mm and are available from the likes of Travis Perkins, though there it isnt cheap at nearly 80 quid a sheet.Travis Perkins are known for being considerably more expensive than anyone else, so it is just a case of phoning a few places and asking for V grooved boards, again it will probably be 9mm.
The simplest thing is it make your own with a straight edge and a router.

If you do that, do you get the same quality of finish in the groove as on the face of the board? What about the ready-grooved boards? Are those grooves the same quality finish as the face?

In mdf No. But thats always the way when you route into mdf. You just have to sand it and apply a sealer.
More often then not these boards are going to be painted anyway, so sanding/sealing is part of the process be they made in the workshop or in some factory.
In fact many of the boards you can buy commercially are pre-finished

I will do some local searching to get a good price it's for cladding a wall and producing a door into airing /immersion cupboard that is hidden hence the v groove to hide the opening gap then it will all be painted no handles just a push to open catch and blum hinges it is 8 foot tall hence the board need 9mm sounds good 👍
