I know you have the tracksaw now, so you should be sorted, but it's worth bearing in mind that if you're ever really stuck, the MDF comes with 4 really good edges already cut, so you can likely get a lot of the front edges out of the edges of the boards, with any dodgy cuts hidden at the back.

How do people generally do things like that shoe rack? Pocket-hole screws? My initial thought is to use my router to cut housing joints using a jig, but no idea if that's the 'best' approach or not. I have a similar shoe rack to make eventually.....

i would use my domino, but obviously not everybody has one. a housing joint would be my second choice.

well I've been watching lots of woodworking videos. I think to me, by far the best is Jeremy Braun, I could watch those videos all day.
If anyone can suggest anyone like him I would be grateful. Typing 'diy wardrobes' into youtube is a pointless and irritatinmg thing to do, all I get is prefab units and girls talking about what outfits they have, ugh.

But, cabinetmaking has thrown up some interesting vids. There is a real mishmash of different vids/channels, lots of them are terrible, a few of them are good. It's kinda interesting in that regard, and its good that there are so many.

I've decided on a biscuit joiner in my plan of attack. So now im on the hunt for a good second hand one. Maybe a decent affordable one like the yellow clarke if i cant find a makita or similar.

Also I've no idea what type of glue to get. Is there a particular brand we have on this side of the atlantic, thats suitable for mdf?

cheers for reading.

Hey fella. Good to see you are progressing well. Biscuit joinery does provide very weak joints. Personally I would say use dowels and glue and/or pocket joinery. You can pick up a k4 on amazon for about 60 quid I think

Biscuit joiners are are usually used for securing face frames or in some cases trims/mouldings. But I must admit they do look cool
