Morning I'll not say good morning as it isn't.My scroll sawed just died on me this morning and i'm afraid I don't have serfitiant funds to replace it with a decent one, there is on e bay a record saw and a delta saw what do you guys think. It would really help if some one could look on e bay and tell me what they think. Mal

Disaster indeed :( . Remind us, Mal, what saw do you have and how exactly has it broken down. I thought you hadn't owned it very long.

I had a look at eBay but didn't see anything I thought would meet your needs. The Delta is way overpriced (IMO) because you could buy a new 16" Fox for a little more. As for the Record... it's down in Staffordshire and is collect only. Could you arrange collection? Generally, I'm wary of the Record brand but I've no personal experience of their scroll saws. Still, any port in a storm. It would be better to have the Record instead of no saw at all.

Although your funds are tight, if you can't get your saw repaired you might be better off investing in a heavy duty saw next time around. After all, you are very productive. I know Hegners are expensive but in the long run one might be cheaper for you than a series of lighter saws which can't cope with your workload. Perhaps you should treat your scrolling more commercially and use it to try to raise funds for a Hegner ;) .

Hi Gill I have an axminster.I always thought the delta was a good saw, what would be the right price do you think,or aren't they worth bothering with Mal

I agree with Steve. It would be worth speaking to Axminster and hearing their advice.

I would like to thank you both for stopping me making the biggest blunder. I am totaly embarased.Let me tell you a story. Every Tuesday on our way to my motherinlaws we call in at a communal farm, kids with learning difficulties work there. What a great job they do there .Anyway a couple of weeks ago I took some of my pieces for these younge guys to put in there canteen and on going today for our eggs the man in charge asked me if I had made any more, to which my answer was my saw had broke down and I had not had it longe, he replied by asking if it was a drive belt to which I said there was no drive belt and then I thought the bolt that held the arm on!!!!mmmm your right it had worked its way off uuuuu brain dead me . So problem solved.Mal

I'm pleased to hear it was so simple to sort out in the end :) .

That Record scrollsaw on Ebay looks very different to their current model. . . which looks identical to the Jet . . which also looks identical to the SIP. I think the specs on all those machines are either the same or at least very close to each other.
