Someone has just done me a big favour. I know he is a gardener so want to make him a dibber.
Can anyone point me to an elegant one? I need the proportions - I made one at the weekend but it looks all wrong.

Any suggestions as to other things I could make him?

How long are they?
Are the "graduations" every inch??

IIRC My one has 2inch graduations. Will check tonight if not one has replied.

i've made three - 2 for by father-in law and his friend a little one for SWMBO

the two bigger ones had 7" 'blade' and 3"handle and grads every 1"
the smaller 1 was exactly half that

I cant recall exactly the diameter at the top of the blade, I think it was 1.5" and 3/4"

a variation on a theme is to make a pair one of them with a thinner handle to take a ball of string, you can then mark out your rows.
another one is to make a ball of string box dispenser, these can be mounted on a broom handle so that when your tying up your beans etc you dont have to bend down to get a bit more.
