I doubt that I could do anything like Kityhawk has done, but I too build model aircraft. Mine are radio controlled, that is always radio and sometimes controlled

This is my latest. It's a DFS Habicht, a ¼ scale model of a 1936 German gull wing and fully aerobatic glider. 3.4m span from a plan by Chris Williams. Balsa, ply and heat shrink material on the open work. All I need are the right conditions to chuck it off of one of the hills around Stroud to see if it will really fly

I have no idea just how much wood has gone into it, but it's lots! The paint job is several coats of non shrink nitrate dope, several coats of Halfords VW Candy whits and several coats of red acrylic. The red applied with my airbrush and it's the first ever job I've done with one. It could have been better, but I'm quite satisfied with it.
