The lady who gave me the lignum bowls is sending stuff to David Stanley for auction. She's got quite a lot and told me she keeps coming across boxes like these. Should be a good one.

That's a pretty rubbish collection of tools and they aren't really worth anything, I'd suggest shipping them to BM101 and he'll dispose of the lot for her free of charge.

Your friend, unless she knows is in for a very pleasant surprise.
Would be a big advantage to see some bubble wrap to stop what will be horrible transport damage.

Joking aside Phil and I don't want to presume...
but there are enough (but not so many more importantly), very good tools and collectable tools at that to make an auction a poor option for your friend.
I very much hesitate to offer you tool advice of course!

It's a bit of a catch-22, on one hand some of the tools will sell better on eBay especially the ones that "Paul Sellers uses in his videos" which seems to put a 200% markup on stuff now, but the ones that may slip the through the net on eBay but will be spotted by the very keen tool collectors in the DS sale for what it actually is and may actually sell for more there.

That really is a great example of stuff that should be saleable here on the forum. What sort of crazy rules mean we don't get a chance to buy this sort of stuff directly, but instead have to go off to a public auction site?

This is one of the poorest areas in the EU let alone the Country to try to sell stuff in - there is little here remotely specialist. The better prices there will easily outweigh the cost of getting the stuff there. Her husband was a joiner by trade and collected for 40+ years, she doesn't know what half the stuff is and I suspect has no interest in selling it piecemeal. She has a large workshop full of clocks and another full of motorbikes and an Austin Healey. She showed me a picture of a wardrobe full of planes.

Certainly - I wouldn't like to be the one putting the prices on it though.
She said she noticed the name Norris, and some of the braces had a funny name like Ultimatum.

Some people like stuff to go to a good home where it'll get used etc. No auction fees? Never said I'd not be prepared to pay a fair price etc etc. *shrug*

I have to agree with Billw - a lot of those planes are common, so common dealers will already have more than they can sell, but on here I would assume each one will fetch a reasonable price, rather than get used for parts to get a "best example that sells for top money" out of 5 usable but otherwise unremarkable ones.

Sometimes I wonder if these things are priced as high as they are because of tool hoarders more than anything, is it a false rarity if there's only one or two on the market at any given time but Bob's got 50 in a plastic tub stuffed in a his wardrobe waiting to see the light of day?

And how many Bobs are out there?
