I can't help with your specific question, only to say keep persevering, I've got his book and it was invaluable in setting up and getting the best from my machine. If you're ever in the south Hampshire area you're welcome to pop by the workshop and read up on any particular topic.

I find the best way to find books is to search using the isbn number and get hits on secondhand book sellers worldwide

David used to be a very regular contributor to the Felder Owners (or Users?) Forum, which was a Yahoo forum. You could join that to find out what's happened. As I said before, his book (actually it's more a photocopied document) is an extraordinarily useful resource and well worth chasing up.

If you have a specific question I can try and provide a précis of the relevant part of David's book.

Thanks for your reply’s. Does the book have an ISBN number that I could search? I will try the felder forum. It’s just that I’ve recently bought a new K700 panel saw and it was an ex display model which apparently was set up for demonstrations purposes however I would like to go through it myself. I contacted Felder hoping that they had a manual that their technicians use to commission the saws however the said that their wasn’t one. Although they are happy to answer specifics I Would like a reference manual that I could keep referring to.

I believe David Best posted a link to a PDF version of the survival guide recently on the FOG. I think he decided updating it was too much of a task so posted the original as resource.

This is all getting a bit weird Jon.

I've just logged on to the Felder Owner Group forum, it's still up and running and it's still managed by Yahoo. However there seems to be a bit of a brouhaha going on, with one faction wanting to break away from the Yahoo structure (makes sense to me, it's really clunky) and start again elsewhere.

I get the impression David Best is involved in this debate somewhere, and possibly access to his manual is a casualty of it all? Just a guess, but I can't find any route through to buying his manual anywhere!

I've also checked the manual itself and there is no ISBN number. One other thing, David has started to write a companion manual covering Felder planers and he kindly sent me a draft copy, that's worth looking out for too.

I don't know if you have a new machine or a used machine, but other documents you might want to chase down are the original Felder instruction manuals, which are pretty hefty and give quite a lot of information,
