Re-sizing Method 1

With the Tape Measure (T), select an edge of the object you want to be a precise dimension, and then enter the new dimension you want for this edge. The object will be scaled to that precise dimension.

If the object is a component only the component will be re-scaled. If it's not a component, this will re-scale everything in the drawing

Dave I cant get this to work what am i doing wrong?

i made a rectangle pulled it into a solid made it a component and then using tape clicked onto a edge and typed in a new dimension - tried several variation but nothing happened.

Mike, sorry for the delay in responding. I just saw this now.

My guess as to your problem is that you are clicking on an edge. Instead, click on one corner (or end point) and then the opposite one. After the second click, type the desired dimension.

Note that for this to work on a single component, the component must be open for editing. If all components are closed, the entire model will be rescaled.

Sometimes, I draw a line of some arbitrary but easy to remember length. I'll measure that and type in the desired new dimension if I am scaling up temporarily. Of course if I want to scale only a component, I draw the line inside the component boundary.

Hope that helps.

Dave
