Just been down to PFT this morning and spent some of my Christmas dosh on this...a Disston D-8 cross cut. It looks to be in good nick and has seen some use but it hasn't been abused, which is the main thing. I think that I'll take off the handle and give it a good clean up. Also going to make some floor standing saw chops so it makes sharpening easier. All I need now is a D8 rip........- Rob

Phill - have asked the guys in PFT to keep a look out for a D-8 rip but they tell me they are becoming very hard to find. I need a rip 'cos I recently burnt out the motor on my De Walt saw.. [-(. If you're willing to part with the D-8 rip, I'd be happy to take it off your hands next time I see you, need to sort out a price - Rob

Just made a set of saw chops for the D8 from some oddments of pine and an obscure lump of hardwood for the jaws. Will make sharpening of my large handsaws much easier. I've tried holding them in a vice but custom made chops like these make the whole job much easier...slightly tricky to make tho' to get the angles right for the wedge action as the jaws drop into the legs - Rob

Paul - it's nothing fancy but they are useful things to have if you sharpen saws, they do make life a whole lot easier - Rob
