hi lasd got a call from my surgeons secretery today i have to go in on tuesday for my spinal op .
whats the best way for him to sharpen his scalpel i watched a video on youtube of the op not a good idea
so today was spent putting things away in the workshop and putting unit up at end of my bed for the tv grounded for minimum of 6 weeks.

Good luck Pete.
Surgeons are pretty talented guys and the kit they use is far better than the best we use so believe that you'll be fine and you will be.

Good luck Pete . If you are in hospital any length of time (and ticker and BP are good) have someone smuggle in salt. Amazing how much you miss it. Last time I went in I near starved because of the "food" , hope your hospitals do better. Books are another great help , 2 or 3 more than you think you will need. Get well soon amigo.

Good luck, we have an excellent health service so I'm sure you'll be up and about in no time.

Good luck with the op and recovery. I would second any of the advice recommending anything to improve the taste of hospital food, plus anything to take your mind off being in a ward, like books, a tablet if you have one (you may be able to tap into the hospitals WiFi - ours has a guest password).

I wouldn't be too certain that surgeons' kit is *always* better than the best we have. For instance, those of you who use scalpel blades for marking out - the Swan Morton blades are identical to those used by surgeons (except that theirs are sterile). A lot of the jigs used by orthopaedic surgeons, and the advanced instruments used by other specialties are beautifully engineered, however.

As a final note, here is a link on the Liogier site that might be of some interest to show it isn't just wood rasps he makes.

As I said, good luck with the op.

Good luck for the op, hope you recover quickly, and I'm looking forward to reading your next post,

All the best,

Carl

Good luck with the op. Lots of paper and clutch pencils for designing the next project.

Best wishes
Mike

Rounded bevel on an old clogged up oilstone (preferably dished)!

Best of luck for the Op Pete, I hope everything goes smoothly.

If you want to borrow a stack of woodworking DVD's just give me a shout.

All the best with your operation, I'm sure all will be fine.

If it is any comfort, I have had operations to my spine regularly for thirty years and still am, each one has gone very well with excellent results.

Hope you are soon mobile again, Wingy
