Found an offcut of discarded oak yesterday and now the weather is cooling down, I put the board to the bandsaw and resaw roughly to around 12mm thickness pieces. Now I have got to get down to making something again.

That should make at least one Oa- K box John, and perhaps some display frames or cassettes for the good ladies work?

Now you've done it John :)

You have wood...got to make something....no more excuses....you know....I'm getting old....wife's health.....workshop roof falling in....come on....your fans are salivating :)

Got a problem, there is no more space available in our home according to the wife.

I reckon I still have around 4 cu. ft of timber unsawn laying around. (Trouble is there is no more sycamore, hardly any black walnut etc. left.)

Two garage doors to paint, needing undercoat as well.

Found a length of sapelle.

and took off a 15 mm slice.

Then I was a naughty boy, I put the sapelle straight to the thicknesser mode. (it had been a nice cut)

Same with those oak pieces.

Glued and clamped to make boards my usual fashion.

Be back shortly after some painting.

The smaller piece above jammed in the thicknesser whilst being cleaned and broke up, so remaking another section.
Got to undercoat garage doors today.

Well doors undercoated , but the wife now has a problem, her craft maginfier lamp as broken down, and that took a day mucking around.
Hope to get back on the box later today(drainage on garage needs sorting)

Got some time back on the box yesterday and although it looks smart in the photograph there are some severe problems.
The top and bottom edges in sapelle do not line up. However waking this morning I think I have found a way to disguise this error. I will put four constrast stringers at corners hoping it will draw eyes away from fault.

My problem getting back to woodwork is that my consentration is not what it was, I suppose I can expect this sort of thing with age.

I hope my mitres close up as nicely when my concentration is age affected! In fact I'd be happy with work like that at any time!

Woodwork finished on this oak, sapelle, lacewood, maple and ply (sliders) tissue box.

The reason for putting stringers to four corners was the misalignment of those sapelle stripes.

Underside of box.
