Not had a critique for a while so here goes.

Yew: 12" tall, stem 1/8" dia, top 2" dia 2mm thick. Sealer & wax finish. Photo doesn't show the finish too well but quite a nice satin sheen on it.

Would have liked to get the stem thinner but ran out of nerve as I don't have a steady so did it freehand.

Now that looks very elegant Pete, your mastery of machine and tool control is showing a considerable improvement in short order.

I like the proportions 'as is' any thinner on the stem to me would be in the 'just cause I can' category and would not add anything to the goblet other than a reluctance to handle it in case it snapped.

The choice of Yew as a character wood for the subject to me adds something to the piece that attracts my eye, whereas a plain wood, no matter how well finished would register to me as just another a piece of slender turning.

Can only agree with all Chas said - it "looks" right;slender and delicate, but still touchable :D

Very nice looking goblet Pete. :D
Lovely colouring and markings from the Yew,and a nice finish too.
Think i would have liked to have seen the base just a little bit widerer,as it looks slightly top heavy to me.

Wow. Those really are something. Agree with others that the stems are just right, and anything thinner would have turned (oops!) them from being beautiful to being just "I'm cleverer than you, so there".
