At least 'spose that is what it is.

Haven't done any rustic or stuff with bark left on for a few weeks so thouight I better do another one

5" tall 3 1/2" dia at top finished with sealer & wax. Approx 3mm thick overall inside goes down to a point. The base is hollow to the same shape as the upper side.

Hi Pete, sorry but it looks top heavy to me. Far too much bark showing around the rim, all the rest looks OK just weighed down by the bark.

My preference when doing natural edged bits like this is to flare the edge out, it would even work on your shape. But if you flare out/flatten the edge and cut the same thickness as the walls the edge looks a lot slimmer with just a thin ring of bark.

Tyhanks Tam, I see what you are saying. Unfortunately I have removed the tenon so would have difficulty remounting this one but it's something to remember for the next one.

By the way. I seem to be having trouble sending PM's, can recieve but replies are sticking in my outbox. The answer to your question is yes and if you could get back to me via my email I'd be grateful

Pete

Hi Pete,

If a pm is stuck in your outbox it just means that the recipient hasn't read it yet, as soon as they do it moves from your outbox to your sent box I believe.

Cheers, Paul. :D

Nice looking goblet Pete.
Nice finish, and i like the inside, but i agree with Tam with it being too top heavy and too much bark left on,says he who hasn't done a natural edge finish yet
Good to see your rustic pieces again :D

'fraid I agree with the comments about the "weight" of the rim. I've got another problem with the idea of what is essentially a "practical" shape (a drinking vessel) having a bark rim - darned impractical to drink from. But I guess that's my problem, not a fair critique, since it's meany to be an art object, not a real drinkig vessel.

Hi Pete, saw this earlier today but being away from base did not have time to comment, on second looks I am in the majority in thinking the bark rim would look more in proportion if a little thinner, may be illogical but perhaps it is because of the darker highlight colour being more dominant. or maybe it is the brandy modifying my eyesight at the mo.

You are obviously getting more proficient at mastering this spinning wood butchering lark to attempt a goblet in a natural edge engrain form.
