Any advice on couriers. I need to list a couple of items on ebay. I've weighed them and they're going to cost nearly 15 quid by royal mail, which I think will put people off. Both items weigh about 3.5 kg. I had a look on money saving expert who recommend MyHermes. I went on the site and I think it was about £5.40 each for that weight. However the items are outside the size limit which has a maximum length of 1.2m. The items are a pair of roof bars and a dog guard and both are longer than 1.2 m.

Any other suggestions of couriers to try, I'm a courier virgin.

Cheers

Mark

You can use the parcel2go.com website which will give you a list of carriers and what they would charge and then go from there, I've used TNT, CityLink, ParcelForce a few times and haven't had issues with them.

Personally speaking the last couple of "big" items I've sold on eBay I've let any potential buyers worry about the logistics of getting the items to them, I provide them parcel size, weight, pickup address etc. and then they do the rest.

I use parcel2go. However as stated, I would let the buyer sort it. eBay now charge a cut on postage so it will save them money as well. The advantage being that it is at the buyers risk and if the courier objects to the measurement it is the buyers issue.

Also, I think that the couriers are much of a muchness in terms of service- pretty much dependant on the local person that collects the parcel and the local person that delivers it.
