Hi Guys
Been trying something different not sure if its come off but appreciate your comments

Mahogany bowl with blue resin rings with beads on side using beading tool, tried to get inside diameter bigger than opening but kept catching, maybe try again next time :?

Had a go at pyrography with a plain Tulipwood bowl

Both look excellent to me, the second 'bowl' (more like a hollow form) is gorgeous. The pyro work really lifts it from the ordinary to the special bracket for me. Bootiful as the turkey would say

Don`t let your missus look at it Pete and pick all the faults in it
Steve

She's only just started, not reach that standard yet though I reckon it won't take her long. That is truly gorgeous

I like the mahagony bowl but the blue looks a bit odd to me.

Not keen on pyro work but your second piece is a beauty, really lovely detail on this piece completely brings it alive. Excellent form and texturing too.

Steve they both look well executed, considerable patience and discipline on the pyro' piece which I particularly like.

Hi Sue, don't see enough of your output, grab that keyboard a little more often and let us see what you are up to down in the depths of Cornwall.

Steve,

As others have already said the pyro work is brilliant but for me the jury's still out on the bowl.

Regards

Steve :)

Hi all
Thanks for the constructive comments. Still not made me mind up about pursuing the resin thing yet maybe in another form?.

Sue
(Phew) got your blessing, ta for that

I haven`t put any finish or sealer on the pyro form yet and wondering what to put on it as I`d like to keep the matt finish if poss. What would you recommend please? cellulose/acrylic sealer, oil etc ??
Cheers

If you want it matt use oil. As the wood is burned not stained it should be fine.

Do you still use sealer as well Pete?
Steve
I don't once it has been burned, I suspect if you put sealer on before using oil, the oil won't penetrate the wood properly.

Both excellent pieces Steve. I like the blue on the mahogany bowl,my only criticism would be the inside shape doesn't match the outside one, which would bring better balance to it.

The pyroed one is great, really great, very well done on that 8)

Both great pieces Steve. I particularly like the pyro one, very intricate! Very nice, well done. cheers HM

Hi Steve,

I like the shape and finish of the bowl, but am not sure about the blue resin effect, I don't think the colours go together very well. (IMHO).

The pyro piece is absolutely stunning.
