I'm looking for a cooker hood that has the motor mounted away from the filter part of the unit. Any links spring to mind?

I want to build the filter section into a thick torsion type shelf and have the ducting run within the shelf and the motor unit within a wall unit at the end of the shelf. I want the shelf as shallow as possible around 100mm.

Hmm... TLC (Outlet down in Cheney Manor by the garden centre) do fans, and are as cheap as you can find - dunno about the ducting... HTH...

Try elica, they have hoods designed for remote motors, their motor is an external wall mount stainless steel cowl jobby, but they are sold separately so you could just substitute any old extractor fan.

The uk distributor's website is something like drcookerhoods, google on elica and theirs is one of the top five or ten hits.

TLC, coincidentally sell elica cooker hoods as well as extractor fans, and have very good pricing on the hoods, about 50% cheaper than high street. Limited range on their website, but I'm sure they could get you anything you wanted.
