I have just completed a small linen cupboard (Shaker style) less the doors and drawers in light oak. It is about a metre high and 400mm wide and has 4 centre opening doors and a lower drawer. I was about to make the doors and drawer front out of the same oak but I am now thinking about using a contrasting wood like sapele, any views or would this look to fussy.

Newt - IMHO I would keep the timber for the drawers and door the same. If you look at pics of shaker style furniture its usually all made from the same stuff - Rob

Thanks Rob, I think I will. This afternoon I cut a piece of contiboard with a dark face and laid it in front of the piece and it did not look right, it made it look cheap.
