Just been on the other forum, and the mods are getting grief off members for removing posts
Hope its not Charley in Drag   .

It's always sad whenever there's conflict on a forum. I hope they resolve their differences quickly and amicably, even though I'm not a member. There's a lot of nice people over there who are skilled woodworkers; they need an online home where they can be at ease and I wish that forum every success in its attempts to accommodate all of them.

I think that they believed a forum could be run with less policing than this forum, but I fear that this is not the case which is a shame, I do miss the opinions of such people like scrit and engineerone that had a great input into UKW.
There will always be a lot of opinionated folk that want to put their views forward but some want to do it any which way they can, this is where the moderators earn their corn, if there were no policing you would just be left with a few dozen posters tearing chunks out of each other.

I use the other forum as I get some good responses to questions on the topic of woodwork, unfortunately there is not a lot of talk on that subject just lately.

At least people aren't being banned for no reason other than the personal likes/dislikes of moderators, and others aren't being warned left right and centre for questioning the bannings. As a member of both, I think its a liberating improvement, messy as it may be at times.

And I find it refeshing that over there you can discuss the moderator's actions.
And to correct the OP's view, I don't see any grief being dished out for their actions, it's more of a heated discussion about what should be moderated and what shouldn't. Again something that wouldn't be allowed here.

Didn't you just discuss it?

Personally I think its OK .

Accept the rules of your forum and travel when necessary,

I think it would be a nice gesture if old members came back in using a different user name and keep to the present rules of the forum.

Mcluma, are you cutting or stirring.?

Sorry do not understand that, just wanted to know what the hell you guys are talking about

There was an upset some months ago , some members were excluded form this forum and they went and created their own.

I myself would rather see a reconciliation, by both sides.

In my experience, things start out small and friendly, but eventually everything ends up with the 95% rule. For those that haven't come across it before, the 95% rule says that it's far easier and more economic to keep 95% of your customers happy and not care about the other 5% being dis-satisfied than it is to try and please 100% of the people for 100% of the time. Catering for the extra 5% takes 50% more effort than just trying for 95%. Most internet service providers use this model, and don't care about the 5% of customers who are always complaining about bandwidth restrictions or poor service.

At the moment, it's OK to discuss the moderators actions, but I reckon that after this sort of thing has happened a couple of dozen more times, the moderators might get fed up with defending themselves and change their stance on that.

Sooner or later, it all ends up back at the same place... That's why I reckon that 'thou shalt not discuss mods/bans' is so commonplace on forums and chatrooms across the web. - It's certainly not a unique UKW policy.

Some of us worked hard to try to achieve that but I think the Management of UKWS had their hearing aids turned off.........

Cheers

   Yes, I was going to ask that as well, perhaps we'd better PM some of the above to get let into this little secret

Its here. I don't understand why people are STILL complaining when the new forum offers them an alternative. If you don't like the way this forum is run, go to the other one. Its as simple as that.
