Today my compressor is acting strange, but still working.

When it activates, comes up to pressure and switches off, I can hear air escaping for about two and a half mins.
The pressure drops from eight to six and a half bar.
Apart from that it's ok.

Took a look at it this afternoon, it doesn't appear to be the prv, afaics it is working ok.

I took the cover of the pressure switch/regulator and when I apply thumb pressure to the adjustor nut it stops the air escaping.

I don't really want to mess with it as compressed air has lethal potential.

A new switch/regulator is only a few quid so I think that's the way to go.

On the compressor switch which switches off the motor when it gets up to pressure there is usually a small pipe coming from the non return valve which opens when the compressor switches off ...so that when it restarts the pump is off load...is the air coming from the switch? If so its the non return valve which is leaking...usually its a rubber washer and spring and the washer gets dirty ..

Fixed.

For the princely sum of £12.35 and a few minutes out of my day.

Unfortunately I couldn't wait for the part to come and went ahead and bought myself a new one.

I think this one can go on Market place.

Hiya,
Did the small black pipe go into your new valve switch ok?
Mine has a fixed plastic valve, unable to screw into new switch valve assembly.

Fortunately for me, it was a straight replacement, everything fitted as before.

Not a reply really more a question I have lost the thumbscrew for
My cobra 2.5hp air compressor that lets the air out when finished with it
Any pointers where to pick one up
I have a no clue at all

I bought two off a well known online auction site for only a few pounds. Check the thread size and away you go.
