And when I got in from evening class a little package from Axminster was waiting for me, which had a VERY shiny Veritas plane inside. Thanks again to Ian at Axminster

Just had a look through the competition entries. Some very nice work. Well done to all entrants and congratulations to the winners.

Congratulations to the well-deserved winners and many thanks to the organisers and to the jury who not only graded the entries but made constructive comments on them which I’ll certainly bear in mind in future designs.

I’m a retired architect with a small flat in which it is impossible to do any cabinetmaking other than working out details on paper so that it’s only thanks to the benevolence of a local technical college here that I have access to a bench and some machinery.

It’s difficult for me to contribute to the forum with its wealth of excellent technical advice and the WIP photography (with mouth-watering workshops in the background). Even those of you who don’t make furniture for a living have a professional standard I can only aspire to. If only I did make furniture regularly. For me, the forum has been a high level, highly appreciated, course in furniture making.

I hope the tradition of a competition continues if only because it galvanises one into action.
One suggestion for the future scoring system might be for each judge to give each project a grade in percentage terms to give, for example, a total, if there were 4 judges, out of 400 so that the probability of a tie would be substantially reduced.

Your contributions are always welcome and you clearly know your way round a 'shop and are familiar with all aspects of making furiture...so don't hold back, get stuck in! - Rob

Well done to all concerned, some great results. Having learned a valuable lesson about the time required to get something finished, I will commence on my 2011 entry early in the new year

Those of us who dropped out should promise to do better next year.

I didn't drop out Mike, I got thrown out by the wife. She had this strange idea that replacing the kitchen roof was more important!
I'll never understand women!

Roy.
