Well done fellow competitors. Frugal, IB, and Nibbs congratulations.

I am happy with the results, thanks to Rob for all his hard work and efforts, well done mate. Thanks also to the judges who clearly had a tricky job.

I hope we can have another competition next year. Winning is not so important, it is the fun of being in the race, waiting for the result, watching others WIP threads, etc. Very enjoyable.

Next year I am going to enter in the advanced section, less competition there. :lol: :lol:

The WIP thread prize has been a tricky one sort out. Thanks to Frugals thread it was relatively easy to have a trawl through each. Remember that this prize is for the clarity of communication so I was looking for how well the information was presented. Some threads were good (RobertMP and SteveB to name two) and some were very good, particulary Lord Nibbo's
However, I was looking for a precise and concise description without screenfulls of background 'clutter', together with good quality, in focus pics so my prize is awarded to:

I got to first say well done to Escudo =D> Like I said in his thread I'm glad he wasn't in the advanced category :wink: but I was going all out to win the WIP, some terrific prizes to be got

Thanks fellas for the kind comments and Rob for selecting my WIP thread for the special prize.

I am feeling chuffed and also a little shocked :shock: and surprised . It could not have been easy to choose with so many informative threads, in particular Nibbo's thread for the chess table.

I enjoyed all the WIP threads in this years competition, looking at the pictures, taking in the construction process, seeing a project come together.

Looking forward to the next competition already.

It is so good there isn't a chance that you could knock up a matching fork, I could save that for Sunday lunch use.

Handle is Australian Lace Sheoak, very kindly donated to the cause by Matthew (amongst lots of other nice bits of aussie timbers), box is some of Waka's Indonesian Rosewood and lined with some Wakamaple. Blade is 1.5mm tool steel hardend and tempered - Rob

When I got home this evening the postman had left this bundle of loveliness by the door:

The observant amongst you may notice that these are the MkII bevel edged chisels rather than the dovetail ones that were announced as the prize. When Matthew found out that I already had some of the dovetail chisels he kindly offered to send the bevel edged instead.

Thank you once again to everyone who took part, organised, donated prizes or even just commented on the various threads, and an especially big thank you to Matthew from Workshop Heaven for being such a damn fine bloke.

Frugal - nice one. I'd get out the Autosol and give the blades a quick polish if I were you. Handles should be OK 'cos they're laquered but I'd keep them in the airing cupboard just in case so they're all toasty. Don't forget to wrap each one up though in some decent quality felt....oh, and don't forget the Camilla oil either.
