Hi all,

I am the proud owner of a new Jet bandsaw. The cast table came, as they do, with a protective oil/wax coating (I think its that). Does anyone have any tips/advice for what is the best thing to use to clean this off with.

Thanks Rob

Its a 16x. Looking forward to getting it up and running. Bought it a while ago but had to have some work done to set up a new workshop so now greeting everything up and running. Will let you know how it performs when I use it.

If that's the one with the 10" doc, it's the same machine that I'm interested in, so I'd like to hear what you think of it? - Rob

hi,

If that's the one with the 10" doc, it's the same machine that I'm interested in

I've got that same model for 1 1/2 years now. Here's a summary of my impressions of it:

It vibrates a little too much for my liking. That may be due to the mobile base. I don't know. It happens with every blade I fit in.

The fence is crappy: the aluminium extrusion is slightly warped. I thought of asking for a return but felt that may be I was being too picky and probably that's within tolerances for that price range anyway. I ended up shimming it and in practice works satisfactorily.

It could benefit from having a quick release tension lever.

It has those euro-style saw guides which are a bit mediocre with narrow blades.

On the plus side it cuts straight with every blade I have except the original
one which mysteriously had its teeth set only to one side.
I've never experienced any noticeable drift whatsoever.

And it can take a 25mm blade easily. In fact I'm using a M42 one and only tension it as a 20mm blade according to the tension scale (which goes up to 30mm)
