As a new woodworker, my experience is limited, but i am enjoying making end grain chopping boards.
My first attempt was

As this was my first ever board, it is mine and never going anywhere.

I have got 5 more in progress for xmas pressies, but the first 3 are almost ready.

As a proud Cornishman, I only had 1 design in mind

Finger grooves have been cut in. I have not added any rubber feet yet. I was unsure of what to buy, any one have any recommendations?

Comments and critisism welcome, I am only a beginner :D

they look good to me
what timbers \ finish have you used?
can't help on the rubber feet sorry

Steve

I would skip the rubber feet unless customer requests, I use both sides of my board and a damp cloth if I need to stop it sliding.

My first board was black walnut and oak.

My Xmas St Pirans flag boards are black walnut and maple.

Hi,
Sorry a bit of a noob question  .... end grain.. does this mean it is for example a cross cut of a length of timber such as 2 x 2 and then laminate them together? Then a good sand and oil up?

Thanks

Okay, your chessboard style chopping board has a few alignment issues, but that's minor in the scheme of things, what's amazing is that all your glue lines look really tight and with your Cornish Flag you seem to have fully sorted out the alignment thing.

That's impressive work Pete!

the first chess design, i didnt take any measurements when cutting so square didnt meet up exactly. It was more of a test to see if i could cut straight and smooth to get a good glue up. Which I was please with.

With the flag design I took more care to cut all the strips equally and it did work well.

I do like making end grain boards. A couple of people who have seen the Cornish flag have asked for me to make them, so have received my first commission orders.

This is just a hobby for me but if i can sell the odd piece to keep funding materials and tools, I would be well pleased.
