Hi all,
Just thought I'd share this piece I have made with my fiancee's younger sister, who is disabled and worked really hard with me on this. Under my guidance and supervision she did all the hand sawing (apart from the curve which I did with coping saw.... and after telling her to be careful with saws.... I went and cut myself with it! ). I also did the drilling for the dowels, which she helped to mark out. We glued the ends using small dowels.
Using some foam we had lying around we cut it to fit as a mattress.... only problem was it weren't long enough! So I decided to have a go using contact adhesive to extend it, and it worked a treat! With a little spare we also cut out a pillow.... She will be sewing covers with her mum in the future for the foam.
All thats left for us to do to on the woodwork side of things is to paint it up! Waiting for a nice sunny day on the weekend now and that'll be a nice little job done that she can be proud of! (I'm also a little chuffed with it too..... amazing what you can do with a bit of scrap 9mm ply, a length of timber & a few lengths of dowel from b&q, which cost about £4or5).
Thanks for looking =D>
