This is the same Checker wood bowl 10" x 3" I made testing the versa chuck with 3 coats Fiddes hard wax oil if I'm honest I'm not impressed with the shape but hey it was fun turning it with streams of shavings flying over my shoulder and I'm sure someone will like it well I hope LOL

Apparently it is one of our oldest woodland trees if ever you get a chance to turn some it is a beautiful wood to turn with shavings literally flying over your shoulder in a continual stream it is a wood every turner should experience the only negative is it can be quite bland but well worth turning

I would think this type of wood would be excellent for intarsia with it being so light / whitish in colour.

Is it quite readily available Woodyturner ?

Thanks for sharing Wt

In all my years of working with wood this is the second time I have ever come across it the last time was about 10 years ago the guy I got it from had several woodlands to look after and he sold his surplus on eBay and I think he will be selling more wood in the new year
