Guessing the numbers they deal in, I guess it's not unexpected that some go astray. I do note a small 'insurance' charge is levied,
perhaps you could test this out @Davey44 ?

I find that delays are semi frequent but the vast majority of the items that go astray do turn up eventually. On the couple that I have had I have flagged with the sender and they have asked me to wait a while. After that they have replaced them without question, and in a least one of those occasions it eventually turned up after another month.

I am only a private individual who sends/receives an average amount of stuff. In my experience (limited as it is) and in my belief (backed with no evidence) very little is truly lost in the post if properly packaged. A few bits get separated from packaging, but much of what is claimed to be lost is either never sent or is received and claimed as not.

Thanks pe2dave, you're probably right. The tracking shows its route from one place to another in China, then simply says - "Leaving China!" Then when I challenged them, they sent me an unintelligible list (presumably in Chinese) which was no use whatever. Ah well, back to PayPal to process for a refund I guess!

PayPal will ultimately have your back but I would speak to the company first. They will probably sort it out without tarring their reputation with PayPal, and if they are prepared to do so then fair enough.

I'll add again that somechinois co's actually put your costs on your charge cards as a "cash advance' which for my card carries a fee, and immediately starts charging interest. My experience was limited to "alipay"

I bought a small item with parts missing, as you, poor English responses. I kept at it, polite every time. Eventually they refunded the money.

I looked at this last week after watching an episode of China Tools on the Hooked On Wood YouTube channel. The mitre gauge alone can be shipped from the UK hence the free delivery.

The combination of the two are shipped from China and the weight is why they add an inflated delivery charge according to something I read.

Just ordered the brass handle mitre from UK held stock with 1 week delivery for £48...

Update: Dispatched within 4 hours!

Ordered Monday after lunch - UK stock
Dispatched within 4 hours
E-mail updates for dispatch and arriving for local delivery + tracking info
Arrived Wednesday afternoon!

Ordering from the (limited) UK stock has been excellent on this order.

Plus - really love this tool, very accurate, beautifully made a true example of Tool ****!

I tried to buy 150mm 300mm and 1m rulers from Banggood as recommended by Hooked On Wood, no problem with the 150 & 300 but the shipping charge on the 1m was more than the ruler! I ordered the the smaller two and found that Axminster sell the same 1m cheaper, still dear for a ruler but top quality.
