Hi All,
There is a tool sharpening place on my way home from the train station and they have some large boxes out the front every now and again that seem to be used to ship large circular blades. So I picked a couple up and have decided to use the lids from them and the base from one of them to make a cat kennel (the misses has been asking me to make on for ages, so thought i probably should).
My aim is to make something that looks like a mini house(ish) I also want to use it to make some scaled roof trusses and possibly use some spare roof tiles to do the rook as well as adding some scaled guttering, window and door frame trim.
This is it minus the lid and still as one piece
the lids all broken down and some of the glue removed, they actually dont look to bad
the 4 sides cut the length ready to go
The glue up i had to spread over a couple of days due to lack of large clamps. The below two pictures are of the sides
This picture is of the front and back glued and clamped
After I glued and clamped the front and back up I sanded down the two sides. The wood does not look to bad after the little clean. I only done it to 60 grit and will probably leave it as that as it is for outside use and feels smooth enough (may change my mind though and take it to 120).
I ordered a couple of perspex samples the other day and with one of the clear pieces im going to use it as a window.
I started to route the hole but it was getting a little late and the router was a tad loud so had to put it on hold.
Im hoping for some nice weather this weekend so I can continue with the work, i will update this thread when i get to do some more.
Cheers
Mark
