Carved this hand in lime, a poppy being picked from the fields of Flanders not realising what the poppy would come to represent, the cascading petals represents fallen soldiers of all nations.
In memory of my great grandfather Frederick Stephens who served throughout WW1 and my great uncle Albert Payne who is still in France.

I am no carver and can struggle with the Sunday roast but that looks pretty darn good to me. A great way to remember them.

Thanks for all your replies, I put this out on display each remembrance week at a local memorial hall where a local art group each year produce a new piece of art to remember the fallen of the two world wars, (names remembered via memorial plaques)
