I need to drill a few 35mm flat bottomed holes about 6-10mm into some pretty hard phenolic plastic, on my lathe. i have seen suggestions of using a carbide tipped forester bit but they seem to be unavailable in the uk.

I only have a few to drill so I cannot justify a premium brand. Any suggestions on where may have them?

would a 35mm router cutter be better, it I could rig up some way of holding the item in a jig on the woodcut.

The lathe is easier to hold the item in if possible for drilling.

Bare in mind that those won't drill a completely flat bottomed hole. They still have a spur in the centre and the edge cutters will leave a recessed ring on the outside.

the spur i can live with- they are to drill for a clock insert, so will be covered.

What do you mean about the recessed wing on the outside- is this at the bottom of the hole? If so, that wont matter.
