Not so brilliant and booking system useless and I arrived at 10am and was told next available showing was 2pm!

I had dad's taxi duties for rest if day so a failed visit!

I was brought up in Middlewich, Cheshire, a renowned canal hub. As kids we spent a lot of time fishing on 'the cut' during the sixties and enjoyed watching locks operating. Back then it was still mostly commercial traffic.

The lock gates were still made just up the road in Northwich untill pretty recently. Canals are still busy in Middlewich mikej460 but like you say it’s tourists and people who live on them now predominantly. Do get a few working boats though but no really ‘haulage’ boats
