I bought a lot of MR about 6 months ago and have been meaning to ask this since. It wasn't green at all, and on machining and paniting reacted the same as normal MDF. I have a feeling a yard mixup on delivery was the cause. Has anyone encountered non green MR-MDF?

I have, my kitchen doors were laminated onto MR-MDF and it was brown throughout. Egger confirmed that they supplied the panel pressers with a non-tinted MR-MDF (panel pressers said this was so it couldn't grin through veneers).

So it can be obtained, whether a timber yard would carry is perhaps less likely (nice for them to be able to tell what's what for a start).

No markings anywhere on the board edges etc?

I've been told that MR MDF comes in brown, but where I buy from it is always green.

No markings on the board other than they had penciled on MR to a few as I'd ordered a mixed loading of normal and MR.

I have had some MRMDF which was a brown colour and my 'normal' stuff is only green in the centre with the outside being the normal MDF colour. I could tell the difference once I started to apply the finish though as I had MRMDF and normal MDF side by side for comparison.

I bought some 18mm MR MDF a couple of years ago (Travis Perkins) and it was brown for approximately 12in. wide, down one edge. Never had a totally brown sheet of the MR stuff but this one I had has survived like all the rest.

Most of the stuff I use is all green up to 15mm and then 18mm upwards it is usually green in the middle and brown on the faces about 2-3mm into the board. I think most of it is usually medite brand and what it is is burnt into the edge.

i think it's becoming more popular having the green stuff sandwiched between the buff ( oo er missus )

I recently phoned my merchant to say the chipboard flooring he'd delivered wasn't moisture resistant, as it's the normal buff colour? he informed me that's the way it comes now  just check the print on the back.........I checked on Egger's website, and it appears that T&G Chipboard flooring is now al buff in colour.

Perhaps the same is happening with MDF ?

Cheers
