Can I put a pre-cat Lacquer over a danish oil finish

Can anyone assist is it possible to put a pre-cat over a project that has been danish oiled.

Would a sanding sealer adhere to the existing finish??

This wouldn't be advisable.

The only finishes you can really use over a danish/finishing oil is more of the same oil or a wax.

Would Shellac "take" over Danish oil. I know it will stick to most things. If so, I would imagine there would be no problem putting the pre-cat over the shellac. Lot of faff mind.

Again, this wouldn't be advisable.

Oils don't really like anything trying to stick to them and although the shellac might adhere in the short term it could well be a problem waiting to happen later.
As for pre-cat over shellac, also not recommended. Pre-cat is cellulose based and the solvents would attack the shellac coating. Also, technically speaking, the shellac wouldn't be hard enough for the pre-cat and could craze at a later date.

when using oil/naptha stains I always used to seal in with polish first and then build up with pre-cat basecoat and lacquer up to 9coats to achieve the desired finish
