How do you attach an extractor hose to the rectangular extraction port (or the oval one for that matter) ? I see you can buy an expensive hose kit. Is there a cheaper / better way .

Cheers

Mark

There is an adapter for the hose but, if you don't have one, mine was missing, then you're a bit stuffed as I haven't found somewhere that does them despite a whole lot of looking. So I've resorted to Duct Tape and one of these for the hose. Works OK but you have to keep replacing the Tape.

As Studders says it should have come with an adaptor, this also has the effect of making the machine sound like a supercharger whining.

Thanks for the replies

I have the suction stub, but the extractor side of it is oval not round. I don't have the right size hose so have not tried it. Do I just force the round extractor hose over it, cause that look like a recipe for it to break? Or do I then need something else to connect it to the round hose, something like has already been linked to?

I mostly use mine (C3) with the bag but a hose fits the bag spigot which is round so you don't really need both outlets unless yours didn't come with the bag either

Is it like this oval port on a Festool 1010 router ?

If so their vacs have flexible round ends that you can buy seperately maybe that would do the trick

No, mine has no bag :(

The port does, from memory, look like that Festool router port though not sure of size. Have not looked at the cost of Festool hose but can't imagine that will be cheap either

Clearly this is going to be no simple/cheap fix. Surprised I've not read this in any Lamello reviews.

Any other ideas?

Just had a rummage in the box my C3 came in, this will show you the bag, hose and deflector fittings

As I said I use mine 95% of the time with just the bag and thats on MDF & MFC, the only time I use extraction is when edge jointing natural timber as the longer shavings can clog the exit when using the bag and then I just fit a hose to teh bag fitting, the ID is the same as Elu, Dewalt, Metabo.

It would be better to buy the bag and adaptor then just use extraction into the round bag fitting when needed, its also a lot easier to handle the machine without a hose.

Edit just looked at lamello site again and its actually the 36mm hose adaptor that you would be best with, this is just the bag fitting without the bag. Give Brimac a ring or e-mail, they have directed me to sellers of items that neither they or Axminster list eg parts for Leigh jigs.

My C2 only had the suction stub, which the the hose reducer i linked to fitted well, but being rubber was quite heavy so i had to take care to ensure it stayed on, but as i`ve said it worked well.

The festool hose would probably work very well as this to will deform to the shape of the stub & is quite light , i use one of these on their domino & router & it`s very good, though about 5 times + the price of the stepped reducer :( .

Doug.

Not a bad price on its own without the hose.

They do an adapter its only about £10 so not expensive. That picture JasonB posted shows its exactly the same as the Festool port as I thought.

EDIT: Doug has posted above with the part you need.

Jason

I only have the 2 smaller adapters shown at the front of your photo.

Looks like I need to get the adapter you already have connected to the back of your machine, which i think is the 36mm suction hose adaptor you link to. I think I might make a few phone calls next week to see if I can get one and that it fits the C2. If the bag works as well as you say might get one of those too to give me the flexability. Otherwise it will be the tapered rubber thingy from axminster.

Anyone got a 36mm suction hose adaptor and bag they want to sell :?:

Thanks everyone

Mark

The hose I linked to should fit the oval adapter in Jasons photo as it's quite soft and adaptable.

EDIT - If you do get any joy re getting adapters can you let us know.

In the same boat - I'll happily pay for good quality engineering but 51 quid for a bit of hose is too much.
As someone said in a previous post, black pond hose (25mm ID) does a good job.
Later in this thread someone rejected the idea as it wasn't a transparent hose... but the only semi-transparent ones I've found are far too stiff (and believe me I've looked!).
(The Lamello branded hose is black as well... so I think if it's good enough for Lamello etc...)

So...I have just bought 3m from TLC (5 quid).
It is stong, flexible, smooth bore (very important) and does not collapse under heavy pressure difference (ribbed).
It is also the right weight (again very important), it pushes straight onto the oval outlet port so there is just the vacuum connector to sort out.

I've been so pleased with the characteristics of the hose, I've decided to make this my only power tool vacuum hose (except for electric plane which I rarely use).
To make a ford fiesta solution into a jag, I'm making up some lightweight push fit rotating cuffs from white delrin, so any twisting of the line automatically straightens (hmmm).
A short dongle of hose (say 12 inches) will come off every power tool, ending in the above coupling. I've made these before (see drawing of an extension hose straight rotating cuff I made last year).

If any interest, pm me and I'll make more on my lathe.
