Hi I'm wanting to buy a cabinet saw , looking to spend around £1000 and apart from the Axminster model I haven't heard of anything else and wondered if anyone had any ideas, thanks

Wadkin AGS 10", loads of the sell second hand for £950 to £1200 ish, the lower end is obtainable if you're patient.

I'm in the same boat so would be interested in what you decide...

I am keen to have something with a cast iron table and a sliding carriage. Options I am thinking of include:
- Axminster AW10BSB2 £749 or £1,189 with the sliding carriage
- Axminster PS250 £1200
- Jet JTS-600 £1250
(any of the above from Axminster Tools)
- Record TS250C £1000
- Charnwood W629 £660
- Charnwood W650 £823
(all avail from Yandles)
- iTech 01332 £1338 with slider (new from eBay - seems to be identical to SIP 01332 but £150 cheaper

So spoilt for choice really! If anyone can think of any other candidates I have missed let me know :)

I am steering clear of secondhand due previous experience with a s/h Fox (horrible), and I fancy a warranty.

Cheers

Steve

The trick to buying s/h machines is to look for the ones that were considered top tier back in the day.
Buying used machines that were useless when new is just throwing your money away.
But if money isn't an issue, then go for new.
A warranty and tech support is always nice to have.

If in doubt when choosing between two similar models, go for the heavier one.
